I believe this is a District first. The Fine Arts Festival is spread over two Saturdays: WV on 5/8 and NV & MV on 5/15. In fact its well laid out for the future, for several years to come: www.ipsd.org/Uploads/news_25920_1.pdfThis chart looks pretty complicated to figure out if you ask me, but I think this means if you are at one of the split MSs or ESs, you wont have to choose on the same Sat. which Festival to be at if you have kids at multiple schools. Looks like WV will always stand alone with FAF on separate Sat. Then MV and NV on another Sat. Then if families at the split MS's (Still and Scullen) or split ES's (Gombert, Owen, Peterson) have WV to go to if they need or wish to, and then the other one at MV or NV the next saturday. This works because splits are either WV/MV or WV/NV so this addresses potential "two places at once" problem. Seems like they got it figured out. Hey, some of us get to double our fun! What could be better than one annual, wonderful FAF to go to? How about two! EDIT: The link above has been changed on the ipsd website. Now for some reason it just shows the 2010 sched at MVHS. Previously, it was table showing for several years out Scullen and Still FAF assignments. Basically, from my comments above and as I remember it, the planned schedule works out where in even-years Scullen is at WV and Still is at MV. Then in odd-years Scullen is at NV and Still is at WV.

This is interesting. I see on MV music schedule that White Eagle ES music groups will be part of the MV FAF. Along with Gombert and Owen, so all of Still and all its feeder ESs go to MV.
Then, if you look at WV schedule, I see that Welch ES music groups along with Peterson and Fry will be there. So Scullen and all its feeder ES will be at WV.
So I assume all all the WE artwork is up at MV, just like Welch has all its stuff at WV this year. Do I understand this correctly? Or am I wrong and only the music ES students are at the different school?

It is my understanding that this is how it will work, alternating every other year to whichever two high schools, but it is interesting that ES that are not split wind up following a split HS schedule due to their split MS. I expect this should mean separate dates for FAF willl be ongoing, since one family can have a student at one high school while the younger children from that family attend a feeder school doing FAF at another HS that year.

.... but it is interesting that ES that are not split wind up following a split HS schedule due to their split MS..... Actually, as I think about it, this seems like a good idea to have the ES's follow their MS pattern. I think for the upper class ES students it will be good to have them "look ahead" to the MS music group or also other art works for the MS that they will be attending. For example, a Welch 5th band student may well be interested in hearing the Scullen band. But the Scullen band will be at alternating HS's depending on the year. So, you might as well have Welch alternate along with Scullen. (Same analogy for White Eagle student wanting to hear Still band).

Actually, as I think about it, this seems like a good idea to have the ES's follow their MS pattern. As I think about it.....Actually, more than just a good idea. Its a really good idea. It addresses splits btw families with MS and ES students. They get to go to one FAF, at one day, at one place. It minimizes families having to go over two separate weekends. I think the people organizing this have thought about this pretty well. We will see how its pull off. ( I do look forward to much less crowding at FAFs!)
