MM better hope the Slate does not win. He will be able to control everyone else but the Slate!!! MM you have 672 hours to keep controlling the board so enjoy the time left!!! I think people need to have a different focus/perspective. How about voting in 4 people that have good qualifications, unique perspectives and will focus on nothing but making 204 be as best as possible? We've heard from people that talk about MM "controlling" the SB (which I don't believe), and how awful that is - now you're talking about the slate of 4 "controlling" the SB - why is this different/better? I completely agree. If the slate of 4 all have what I'm looking for in school boards member, then I will vote for them. I have no problem only voting for 1 or 2 and not all 4. I really don't care that they are running as a team. They will be individually listed on the ballot (at least that's what I believe) and whoever stands for what I believe is best for the district and my family will get my vote.

People the test is going to come the 1st board meeting after the election. When all 4 new board members ask him to resign. The board is never going to work together if MM is across the table on April 13. They can ask him all they want.....they can't force him out. Or I should say they would have to go through the State level to do it, a near impossible task. If they cannot work together, regardless if M2 is there or not, then they don't need to be on the board.

The board is never going to work together if MM is across the table on April 13. If this is true, this is reason enough not to vote for any of the four. We need board members who can and will work with anyone, especially with sitting board members. Personally - I am glad that regardless of how the election turns out the three who are not up for election this time around come from three different high school attendance areas as of next fall. Even though I believe all school board members can and do represent the whole district, it also seems like a positive thing to have at least one member from each HS attendance area. I hope that the new board members bring more to the table at their first meeting than to ask for something that they have no control over.

Editorial: Metzger needs to leave board...... But aside from sending the e-mail to those who weren't supposed to get it, we consider that mailing it at all with that type of derogatory term even to business associates -- i.e. the board -- is totally unprofessional and would in and of itself not constitute the image a school board member should present. Moreover, it is cause to seek his resignation. As good a board member as Metzger has been in the past, for the sake of the district it is time for him to leave. www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/opinions/1466088,6_4_NA08_EDITORIAL_S1.article First, I think the Sun editors did a very good job in explaining their position. The logic they draw (to me) to reach their conclusion (MM should resign) makes much more sense, and is has much more nuance than what has been expressed elsewhere. (a direct example I am thinking of was the IPPC Exec board memo). The core reason the Sun uses: the behavior was "unprofessional and would in and of itself not constitute the image a school board member should present." So now we have a sitting SB member making a personal request that MM make the descision to resign. This is unprofessional and would in and of itself not constitute the image a school board member should present .Now we have candidates campaigning on this issue, grandstanding to drum up emotional votes. This is unprofessional and would in and of itself not constitute the image a school board member should presentSo we very appropriately criticize MM for his actions.... which absolutely was "unprofessional and would in and of itself not constitute the image a school board member should present". But then we tolerate, and even demand, the same behavior from current and future SB members? I dont get it. This never should have been turned into a politics. This should not be about personal issues.

Agreed. There is more to this district than this one factor. We have financials, curriculum, teacher's contracts, the opening of the third HS and transitioning. I don't want to pick 4 people that can only stir the pot and then have nothing to add to the recipe when they realize that the stew we have now isn't going to change.
