I hate to start this as a thread since it is hopefully a one post answer....hoping that Gatordog has the immediate answer.
What are the sizes of the freshman classes at all 3 high schools?
Just asking for curiosity purposes, not to start a debate.
Thanks.

We keep hearing that MVHS is around 650 freshmen.

....hoping that Gatordog has the immediate answer. What are the sizes of the freshman classes at all 3 high schools? I will give an immediate estimate. May or may not be an answer! I was projecting WV Class of '13 as 650, and NV Class of '13 as 900. This was based on total HS estimates for the 2011-12 School year ( when all the legacy jrs and seniors have graduated), then divided by four to estimate for one class. My notes had this projecting MV Class of '13 as 650 too.....(but I cannot remember if that was an input or a result). But the other school estimates are consistent with that known MV class size, I believe.

At NV Fresh orientation, I missed the number but Bob McBride said it is over 1000. I was surprised because I was expecting under 1000.

She says WV freshman (class of '13) has 800 students. This number was quoted in the spring orientation. The entire WV school was quoted at 3100 for the 2009-2010 school year. Hope that helps.

This doesn't seem to make sense. 1000+ at NV, 800 at WV and 650 at MV would be about 2500 Freshmen and there can't be that many.

The numbers reported by posters from the different three schools are really close to that. Quite consistent.

I don't recall seeing total HS enrollment projections at 10k. the 'official' 9/30 2008/09 numbers were: NNVHS 1243 grade 9 1192 grade 10 1146 grade 11 1095 grade 12 1 grade 13+ ---------------- 4677 WVHS 1071 grade 9 946 grade 10 929 grade 11 900 grade 12 13 grade 13+ ------------------- 3853 total 8530 to start last year -- --last financial forecast I have seen showed a projection of 8650 for 2010.

I wonder why there is such a discrepancy between Freshmen and Seniors. I would think that there should be roughly equal numbers in each class. There are virtually no dropouts in our system, so what else would explain why there are decreasing numbers at each level?

Movement from Naperville - Aurora area for more affordable areas may be some ( although doesn't explain the graduated steps of the numbers )- and some movement to private schools ( would like to see #'s for soph class now ('12) as it seemed larger than normal but I have nothing to base that on other than word of mouth and numbers at a few schools (JCA & Benet) applying from 204 increase last year.

It was always my understanding that there was this "bubble" and the class of 2013 was the largest (or one of the largest) and then the numbers were projected to begin to decrease a bit and eventually level off.

Aging of the population likely as people are not selling due to the economy and an awful lot of 204 housing stock built in the last 15-20 years. The economy will have a lot to say about how 204 ages.

Yes, but wouldn't that be spread evenly acrosss all ages? I don't see why there would be more families with Juniors and Seniors moving out than those with Freshmen.
