From Submitted Reports Families and individuals with special needs are always welcome at Centennial Beach. However, on Sunday evening, those with special needs are invited to take advantage of a time set aside just for them and their friends and family.
"Especially for first-time visitors, a quieter, less rushed atmosphere can help families get familiar with the routine, so that future outings at the beach are easier," said Andrea Coates, aquatics manager at the Naperville Park District.
The shallow end and slide at the beach will open at 6:30 p.m. for special needs families and friends, with a closing time of 8 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, and no pre-registration is required. Season members may use their passes; others will pay $3.
Two additional special needs nights are planned, on July 18 and Aug. 1.
Centennial Beach is at 500 W. Jackson Ave. in downtown Naperville.
