If you have a question or need to schedule an appointment, please call Niesa Jacobs, Guidance Secretary 630-375-3330 or the main switchboard at 630-375-3000. COURSE REQUESTS were mailed out this week. Please confirm that the classes you registered for appear on your Course Request Sheet, and that you have at least 6 classes scheduled each semester (not including lunch). Schedule changes, including level changes, are not permitted. If you have an error on your Course Request Sheet, please make an appointment with a guidance counselor as soon as possible.
Students who are currently enrolled should have received registration packets for the 2010-11 school year. If you did not receive a packet in the mail you must bring the required proofs of residency to your the Summer Registration office, located in the Class of 2012, in order to receive a packet. Registration packets were due to WVHS by Thursday, June 17th. If you have not returned your packet, please do so immediately. FINAL CLASS SCHEDULES will be mailed out mid-August to all students who have submitted their completed registration packets. If your registration packet has not been returned to WVHS, we will assume you will not be attending during the 2010/2011 school year, and your schedule may be removed in order to open seats for returning or new students. Thank you for your prompt attention to this.
If you are new to District 204 and plan to enroll at WVHS, call for an appointment. Important information on enrollment is available at http://ipsd.org<http://ipsd.org/>. Registration packets can be downloaded from the lower left-hand side of the page. Please note the proof of residency requirements. Additionally, you will be required to complete a Reading placement test, the Gates Test, on August 23, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 p.m. Sign up for the Gates Test will take place upon registration. This is for New Enrollees only.
Students entering 9th grade and students new to the district must present the State of Illinois required proof of physical examination and immunizations.
If you wish to have a printed copy of your student’s report card, please go to gradebook.ipsd.org/ and click on the Report Card Viewer. Enter your student’s 12-digit ID# and password. Report cards will be available until June 30th. Pinnacle, our online grade book, rolls over to the 2010-11 school year on July 1st, and you will no longer have access to the 2009-10 grades. Many families desire this information for insurance discounts and personal record keeping.
Senior students, the House of 2011 would like to give you a brief update regarding college applications. According to the National Association of College Admissions Counseling, colleges and universities are discouraged from beginning the application process prior to September 1st each year. Waubonsie Valley High School follows these recommendations. We will begin accepting transcript requests on September 1, 2010 for college acceptance in Fall 2011. Please understand we are not staffed to process applications during the summer months.
Consumer Economics Proficiency Exam Update—We anticipate the State of Illinois will cancel the Consumer Ec proficiency exam. If you planned to take the exam this year, please make alternate arrangements to meet your Consumer graduation requirement.
The 2010-2011 school year is right around the corner, so take this time to relax and enjoy your summer! In August, please watch our website for a calendar of dates and topics for our students and families. Parent information evenings are some of our best opportunities to share with families. These evenings typically focus on a particular grade level need but are open to all high school grade levels. Many families have commented about the helpfulness of Junior and Senior College Information evenings, Freshman and Sophomore Parent Nights, our Financial Aid event and NCAA night. We would like to thank the many families that have attended these events.
Thank you for working with us and sharing your concerns and encouragement so that we may provide the best possible high school experience for your student(s). We take the responsibility of working with our Warriors seriously, and look forward to an upcoming year of partnership in 2010-2011.
Take Care,
