Washington Post Ranks NV and WV Nationally
Reported by janet_buglio@ipsd.org on 6/7/11
Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley were included in the Washington Post's High School Challenge Index, which is a national ranking of how effectively a school prepares its students for college.
Only 1,904 schools out of 27,000 schools in the nation met the criteria to make this list. The national ranking formula divides the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or other college-level tests a school gave in 2010 by the number of graduating seniors.
According to the Washington Post, this measurement places Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley in the top 7 percent of high schools in the country. District 204 offers 30 Advanced Placement courses that provide the opportunity for students to tackle challenging, college-level academics. Across the district, more than 3,249 AP tests were taken in 2010.
