Warrior Community Members -
It is my pleasure to echo the positive sentiments that the district e
mail below conveys and to welcome Ms. Marchiando to our WVHS family. I
have spoken to her on a couple of occasions and am most impressed with
her knowledge of the community, her passion for all kids, and the
significant experiences she brings to our staff and community. I look
forward to the opportunity to work with her and learn from her.
Similar to my conversations, I trust you will find her engaging,
approachable, and student centered. Thank you for the true enjoyment
of working with Warrior students and families for the past 16 years!
District 204 Announces New WVHS Principal
Indian Prairie School District 204 officials have selected Kristine
Marchiando as the new principal for Waubonsie Valley High School. She
is replacing Jim Schmid, who will leave his post at the end of the
school year to serve as the new principal for Metea Valley High School,
which is slated to open in Fall 2009.
Marchiando brings nearly 29 years of high school teaching and
administrative experience to Waubonsie Valley. Her new role marks a
return to Illinois from which she first started teaching in 1979 as a
home economics and health teacher for Stillman Valley High School in
Stillman Valley. For the past 18 years, she has served as a high school
administrator in Arizona. Marchiando has spent the past six years as
principal of Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona. She opened the
school, which has 2,700 students.
When asked to comment on her appointment, Indian Prairie superintendent
Stephen Daeschner said, "Kristine is a very skilled principal who not
only has a strong familiarity with large high schools, but she also
possesses great wisdom and a successful track record in academic
achievement."
Marchiando completed both her undergraduate and graduate education at
Northern Illinois University. Among her many professional achievements,
she has participated in the Harvard Principal Academy, and was named
National School Counselors Advocate of the Year, Arizona Vocational
Administrator of the Year, and Arizona Counselors Advocate of the Year.
Marchiando begins her new position on July 1, 2008
