Nah, no blank check. That would really honk some of us off and your assumption is correct. So reading the original email, seems this open house is mainly about Metea. That should be interesting for the realtors. I wonder if there are others who might be interested in learning more about WV. Of course, they have opened WV for several years to the realtors. I have wanted to ask this but I was hoping for a lead into my question. Gatormom has provided that lead in. Have realtors had the chance to learn about NV? I really do not know any realtors very well so I really do not know. If the school district has not had an open house for NV in many years, why not? I have an answer in mind but it would not be popular. Any realtors out there know?

Doc, I can understand that you and everyone else moved to Watts before the boundaries. It is only natural for you to be disappointed about the drive you now face. I guess I just see it (and I should probably say IMO so as not to upset anyone) people moving today probably for the most part know about the new school and where it is located. There may be some that don't care right now, but I am sure there are others that are OK with the location, just as many people buying in Ginger Woods long ago were OK with the commute to WV. I would think that most people currently living in Watts would be more upset over the change than the new ones coming in. I look at Watt's location on the boundary map, and to an outsider or someone new to the area, it looks pretty equidistant to all three schools. Unless you drive the route, one would never know there is a difference. While I agree with your point that a map cannot show the fact that the time increase between WV and MV could almost triple ( always double) the commute 'time' for what appears to be a modest increase in distance - the fact that it is almost twice as far from my house as NV will stand out pretty easily. In fact my realtor friend said the number one question after finding out that we do not attend the school we can walk to because it is a different school district is, well then you go to Neuqua Valley right ? So the sell is very tough. And no matter how you plot it out - looking on a map to see where the MS and HS are does not paint a pretty picture at all. For us old timers there was only one HS in 204 - so it was accept that or don't buy here - likewise no MS's south of us ( why Brighton Ridge also went to Hill at the time)) -- it's when one actually can view alternativs and wonder wth - that the issue arises. btw - the last 2 friends of mine to move out ( and likely the next one) - do not have kids out of grade school yet.... so this is not and age thing. So bringing this back on topic before I get yelled at This is what the realtors face also trying to sll the distance now - the fact on any map it sure would appear even to the newbie to the area- that there were plenty of other options - what happened ?[/

eb204, I am sure I could put in 'seem' into some carefully crafted opinionated posts that would not only honk you off but would also get my account banned. If you wish to give me a blank check to try it, let me know.. I'll give it my best shot. Otherwise, thank you for seeming to share your opinion after the fact in a conversation that was already done between two posters on the board and had already worked it out between them. It seems I'm always late to the party.

I never saw one in their archives, and the only one I found was: www.ipsd.org/newsevents/news_item_detail.asp?id=15201&SchoolID=NVHS

I know that the realtors got a paper last year about all of the renovations that WV had . You know, in 2006 they approved $1.3 million for renovations. Probably just wanted to show the realtors all of the new fun stuff. Since NV hasn't had any huge cosmetic work done, no need to give them the tour. Again, just my opinion...you'd have to ask the district for the real reason. I think it's a great idea to educate those people that have the first link with those new to the area.

I just heard that there will be representatives from all three schools at the tour for anyone that has questions and information will be handed out about ADK too. So I don't think it's all about MV.

I would really like to see the district open up the high schools for public tours. MV will have to wait but WV and NV are available. Maybe a few Sundays a year for the public to come on in and see the hs. I would like to see WV and more of NV. I think it would be great for the community to see that WV is better then many people think and that NV is not over the top (in building terms).

Today (Tuesday, 8/12) and next Tuesday (8/19) are "walkabouts" at WV for sophmores from 9-10 - I'd assum that anyone else that wants to walkabout WV could do so, too, if you just asked at the front desk... "Please join us for a one-hour event for all incoming Sophomore students and new students to Waubonsie Valley. The event is from 9:00 am to 10:00 a.m. on August 12th or August 19th. (Transfer Students - 8/19 ONLY) Typically this a student only event but parents are welcome to join. Entrance will be through the atrium. Schedules with locker numbers and combinations will be provided. The purpose of this event is to help new students to the Green campus to find their way around the school without the pressures of the school bells. Please spend your time wisely because this is a one hour only event. ID photos will be taken from 8:30 - 10:30am for students new to District 204. (NEW - Soph, Jr & Sr ONLY)"
