With the start of the school year, we are implementing a new school-to-parent communication service called Connect-ED. This new phone messaging service allows us to deliver important school information to you in a timely manner. You will receive phone messages periodically from your principal to notify you about important school events. We will also be able to reach everyone in the district in a matter of minutes in the event of an emergency.
I plan to send our first district-wide message on Friday, August 22 at 6 pm. If you do not receive my call, please contact our Tech Services Department at 630-375-3999 on Monday so we can update our database with your correct phone number.

Will this system be utilized for school closings? I hope so for the sake of our room parents who are still required to call every single family in the class when there's a school closing. I remember making these calls at 6:30am and thought "there must be a better way".

I thought d203 does this, but I am not sure. This is also very good in the event there is bad weather and the schools can't dismiss the kids. I don't know how many times I went to pick up my child and they wouldn't release the kids because of a tornado watch right when school was getting out. Would have been nice to get a call so you know what's going on.

Just some additional info on this new service.......www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/1131715,6_1_NA28_D204PHONE_S1.article Dist. 204 launches phone service to improve outreach with parentsAugust 28, 2008 Sun Sun staff Parents in Indian Prairie School District 204 can now receive phone calls about emergency situations and other matters, thanks to a new communication service. Called Connect-ED, this communication service will give District 204's administrators the ability to reach all parents and staff with time-sensitive information in a matter of minutes. "We recognize the important role that immediate communication plays in safety as well as ongoing parent outreach," Superintendent Stephen Daeschner said in a news release. "This system gives us a critical tool to keep parents and staff informed in a matter of minutes." The Connect-ED service enables the school district to send personalized voice messages to multiple phone numbers per person in a matter of minutes. The California-based company is the leader in time-sensitive notification services for school districts, with the capability of delivering up to 3 million calls an hour. District 204 plans to use the system to inform parents and staff of emergencies, such as school closures due to inclement weather. But more importantly, the system will be used regularly by principals at all 31 schools for ongoing parent outreach, the district said.
