My ES school principal said that they got their 6th day enrollment figures in. He said that NVHS was at 4800, and WVHS was at 3600, IIRC. What is the intended capacity at each school?

Yikes. I thought the gold campuses were at 1200 capacity and the main campuses were for around 3000. I could be wrong though.

IIRC, they were for the whole HS. I believe he also said there are1200 at the NVHS gold campus. I don't recall how many are at the WVHS gold campus.

Well, my friend said things are horribly crowded at both the NV main and gold so I am not surprised at the 1200 gold or the 3600 main numbers for NV. IMO this whole new-construction hold-off on new homes being built has been a blessing or things could be much worse.

Maybe once there is a new president, our economy will turn around and the housing market and construction businesses will see an increase as well. By then, the new HS will be finished and things may even out.

I'm pretty sure there are around 2500-2600 at the WV Main so that would mesh with the 3600 or so students total at WV.

Some enrollment numbers were given at the IPPC meeting today. Enrollment is up 500 from last year..... 4700 at NV and 3800 at WV (these include Frontier) Looks like people are still flocking here despite the bad economy. Hope they stay on track for 2009 opening as this can't come fast enough.

Are 3600 (NV) and 2500 (WV) really that bad? I have a hard time believing the size of those schools can't support those numbers. NV cost $65M --10 years ago-- for crying out loud! Can someone please tell me what the designed capacity of NV was when it was constructed? (Even though they were meant for grades 9-12.) If it is significantly below 3600 I will be shocked. That's not to say having fewer kids wouldn't be better, but let's not make this out to be worse than it is.

That's not to say having fewer kids wouldn't be better, but let's not make this out to be worse than it is. I was under the impression total capacity for NV main was 3000. They prefer 90% capacity which would be 2700. IIRC in looking at last year's enrollment numbers, the 7th graders last year (who will be 9th graders in 2009) was the biggest class at over 300 more than the 11th graders who are now seniors. Here's what I have for stats. Since the new numbers aren't out yet, I'm using 11/30/07 stats. 7th 2362 8th 2353 9th 2144 10th 2080 11th 2050 12th 1855 Last year, the 9th - 12th graders totalled 8129. This year, it was just announced it seems to be 8500 for the two schools. Hard to predict next year using last year's stats but could be around 8939.

Ran across some interesting stats while surfing the d203 website.
They did a sample high school comparison study of gross sq. ft per student. Pulled schools that were in DuPage Co. of similar size, recent or planned construction. Naperville Central is at 410,490 gross sq ft and 131 sq ft per student. It will increase to around 185-186 sq ft per student with the renovations.
By contrast, York high school (Elmhurst CUSD 205) is 648,000 gross sq. ft and 257 sq ft per student.
The average of all 19 sample schools was 181 sq ft.
NV both campuses is only 145 sq ft per student. Gross sq. ft 452,000. WV both campuses is 211 sq ft per student. Gross sq. ft 590,000.
Also interesting the number of HS's in the area that don't have swimming pools (almost 37%)

I didn't know WV was bigger (in sf) than NV.

I didn't know WV was bigger (in sf) than NV. 3 floors, that's why - it seems like none of the new HSs are 3 floors - I assume it's some type of guidline/rule/law, maybe for fire safety? With HSs being only 2 floors, the land requirements become that much bigger.
