We have a wall! ;D
They are beginning to put up the exterior concrete wall on the first phase of the building. Looks like there will be lots of big windows. Very cool.

Sweet! I'm glad they've been able to make a lot of progress this week, in advance of the downpours expected over the weekend.

I just got off the phone with a friend who attended the IPPC meeting today. She said Dr. D mentioned they were ahead of schedule on the steel and masonry work and the rain did not cause any delays. They were also right on schedule with the electrical and plumbing.

Just went by the site - - cement trucks all over the place, 3 large wall sections up, and most of the parking lot appears to be completed.

I find it amazing that some people are still squabbling that the entire school will not be finished by the opening. I just drove by Mill Street ES the other day and it looks like a huge construction zone. There must be 10 chain link fences all around the school and right next to the building. I don't even see how the kids get into the building! Yet parents are thrilled that Mill St. is getting some much needed revamping.

Sometime next Spring, when you drive by it will look like a complete school (yes I know it won't be finished then!).

My personal opinion is that if this were Neuqua getting a remodel, there wouldn't be any complaints about construction going on while school is in session. But because of the general disdain for MVHS and its new location and that some are now slated to go to WVHS, the uproar about construction is exaggerated IMO. I wonder how many of those people who are complaining about being open during construction will actually have kids there. Probably about the same number who were complaining about the safety of the site when they didn't even have kids that will go there. The people I've talked to that will have kids at MVHS during construction don't seem bothered by it at all. So I don't get it either WeNeed3.

Personally I think we are lucky. Central will be under construction for almost 3 years. I think you have to weigh the pros and cons. The pros of opening a bit early definitely outweigh the cons. Construction goes on all the time at schools. When are they forcasting completion? Is it January? That's only 4 months!
