WVHS Business Students Raise
Funds for Wish Upon a Star

Business Management students from Waubonsie Valley High School and Hinsdale South High School are joining forces to develop a business plan to raise funds for the Wish Upon a Star Foundation. Students have set a goal of raising $5,000. The organization will use the funds to grant terminally ill children "wishes." As part of their coursework, students will make a formal presentation of their business plan to Don West, CEO of Wish Upon a Star Foundation.

WW II Honor Flight

More than 75 Neuqua Valley High School students traveled to Midway Airport in Chicago to welcome World War II veterans back from a memorable Honor Flight trip to our nation's capital. Students set up banners and posters in the baggage area to greet the returning veterans. Honor Flight Network is a nonprofit group that organizes trips for veterans with the goal of safely transporting all World War II veterans to visit memorials in Washington, DC at no cost. Since its inception in 2005, Honor Flight Network has transported 11,137 veterans. This was the second time Neuqua Valley students participated in Honor Flight. Students joined Governor Pat Quinn to greet veterans at Midway in September.

Spring Brook Raises $32,000 for
Heart Association

Students at Spring Brook Elementary hosted a Jump Rope for Heart event that raised $32,000 for the American Heart Association. The total raised by Spring Brook was the second highest amount in an 11-state region and the eleventh highest in the nation. Teacher Jenny Jansen and PTA volunteer Diana Taylor worked together to organize the event, which included educating students through an all school assembly that highlighted various individuals who have been impacted by heart disease.
