Soccer Heading to State

Neuqua Valley Special Olympics soccer players qualified for the state
tournament. This is the first time the Neuqua Valley soccer team has qualified
for state. Congratulations to Coach Kim Pehlke and the following athletes: Mike
Dial, Chris Adamson, Bryan Hancock, Stephanie DeSanti, Calvin Stumpe, Jake
Lukens, Dylan Morgan, Samantha Davis, Eric Luksitich, and Trevor Symanski.

DECA State and
National Results

Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley high school students recently competed in the
63rd Annual State Career Development Conference of DECA. A total of 92 students
qualified to participate at the state level from both high schools. With close
to 900 students who qualified to compete, Indian Prairie's two high schools
represented nearly 10 percent of the entire competition at the state tournament.
Of the 92 District 204 students who competed, there were 45 who placed. Sixteen
students who placed in the Top 3 of their respective categories competed at the
national competition in Anaheim, California. Waubonsie Valley senior, Megan
Coley placed Top 10 in the Nation in the Entrepreneurship Participating
Franchising category.

FCCLA State Results

Twenty-four students from Waubonsie Valley and 10 students from Neuqua Valley
placed in this year's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America State
Competition. Of the 34 students who placed, six Waubonsie Valley students and
one Neuqua Valley student captured "Most Outstanding" recognition, which is the
highest honor awarded at state. The Waubonsie Valley FCCLA Chapter was also
recognized as a Gold Chapter for outstanding community service.

SkillsUSA State Results

Neuqua Valley had two students and Waubonsie Valley had 41 students who
qualified for the SkillsUSA State Competition this year. Of the 41 Waubonsie
Valley students who qualified, there were 2 state champions, 10 Top 3 medal
winners, and 27 Top 10 finishers.
Bryan Nelson is the State Champion in the Architectural Board category and
Annalise Dietzen is the State Champion for Interior Design. Waubonsie Valley
teacher Steve Skorup was recognized for 15 years of service to SkillsUSA.

Math State Results

Mathletes from both high schools competed in this year's Illinois Council of
Teachers of Mathematics State Competition. Neuqua Valley's team, with 34
mathletes, helped the school finish 8th overall. Catherine Chen received a
special recognition for being a State Qualifier all four years of high school.
Each of the individual teams finished in the top 10 in their area of
competition. A total of 12 Waubonsie Valley mathletes also competed at state.
The Algebra I team took 10th place out of more than 60 teams in the school's
division.
