I'm hoping the new school board can become more accountable. There is nothing wrong with learning from past mistakes and making sure that things like this never happen again. With all of the political mess that is coming from our nation and our state, I sure hope that the SB can become a little more responsible with taxpayers' money in the future.

I too have a child starting at WVHS in the fall and know that his experience with be great regardless of what we are discussing here. If wrongs were committed they need to be known so that the school board/district cannot and will not operate like that in the future! I too was brought up in Chicago and do not believe in covering up the ills of this district. Kudos to MaCrockett. A lot of those "ills" started under the watch of Howie and involved The BB land to start. Had they been much more open and forthcoming in 2005. We probably would have an open MVHS on BB right now. That was a mistake on their part, stupid yes but hardly criminal, and that is what set off the chain of events leading up to where we are now. Again I challenge anyone to cite a criminal act that occurred. whoever said a criminal act occured? Does it have to be a criminal act for us to be interested in the previous assbackwards workings of our school board?. I think not.

Welcome macrockett. I along with many others would love to see the info you have, at which time we can make our own assessments. There were a lot of things that were not done very well. I always challenged the site selection document where BB had been chosen. We all have our "hot button" issues. again welcome, I look forward to some spirited debate. Hi WVParent, long time no talk to. Saw you at the Steck meet and greet, but didn't get a chance to talk then. Maybe we can do it here. Right now I have some work to do so I will be back later to chat. Sorry I can't address things right at the moment.

"Lying, cheating and stealing" were mentioned....those could be criminal acts. What I find hypocritical, is a lot of the same "workings" of the SD/SB were in place and active during the selection of BB, however I don't think I am stretching here when I say that it would have been OK for you then if BB was the site being built on. I brought that up many many times early on, and it was pretty much ignored by many (on blue, cuz green was not active then.) I came to the conclusion that the 3rd HS was needed (I still believe it is) and would accept wherever it was to be built, even though I felt BB was the wrong location. I also asked that of everyone and again was met with silence. You all can make your own interpretation.

I , however, based my vote for a 3rd high school based on how/what was presented by our board. stats, location etc. Kudos for you to not care where it went. That is your perrogative. Obviously that was not the case for most in the district and that is WHY the school board put on a road show to educate the public about the school and its BB location. All water under the bridge now but I firmly believe that when something as important as the location of the school was changed, the vote should have been brought back to the taxpayers.

Well I did care where it went, but I would have accepted wherever was ultimately chosen. I have my own ideas of the who the targeted audience was for the travelling roadshow as you put it, and it was not as you put it for MOST of the SD. I also based my vote on what was provided by the SD, but I also did my own research, and did not rely soley on the SB/SD info. Sorry, we will have to disagree that the location change required a re-vote. of which BTW a judge also concurred.

I thought all the ills of the district have already been brought forth. The SB has changed somewhat and we are getting a new Super. I have faith CB will not allow certain practices that occured in the past. MV is being built so that can't be changed. I am certainly not condoning some of the secret practices the SB made. I also believe the public will demand more accountablility in the future and will get it. It is just time to move on. exactly! The public will demand more accountability via FOIA if necessary. you seem to contradict yourself. The SB will be more accountable and the public will know exactly what is going on because of the online information system that is being implemented. The public will see what the SB sees because it will be online for all to see. IIRC, I believe it has already been implemented and the SB members are getting trained on the new system now. It should be ready to go very soon, and certainly by the fall. Again, IIRC.

I said I didn't like a good deal of what transpired during the process but my opinion is there is no longer any reason to bring up things like criminal acts and going to the states attorney. Again it is time to move on positivly.

That is why many more citizens will be 'on top of' their decisions going forward whether it be by means of FOIA or other actions so beit; the board brought it upon themselves. Might I add that Dawn DeSart is a welcome addition to the board in my humble opinion. She has the ability to see a dysfunctional group when there is one!

Yes, so many more citizens are now on top of their decisions that over 75% of them couldn't be bothered enough to vote for their representatives on the SB. I think that is very telling about what our citizens care about.
