Parents will have a new way to access student bus route information this year. Starting August 15, parents will be able to visit the district's website and type in their home address to access bus route information. The district is launching this new user-friendly system to provide more accurate information that can be easily updated for parents. The district will also continue to post bus routes at school buildings beginning August 15. Two other changes are also planned this year. All middle and high school students will be required to show their student ID before boarding the bus and all kindergarten through eighth grade students will have assigned seats on the bus. Students will select their own seats once school begins and can change seats at the semester. These changes are being made to assist with student safety and management on the buses. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- School District 204 www.ipsd.org780 Shoreline Drive Aurora, IL 60504 USA

Honestly. It bothers me enough that my kids had to have assigned seating for lunch all their years of middle school, and now this? I know there are bus issues but this seems crazy. Lunch and bus time should be part of the "fun" time of the school day for the kids.

I agree. Assigned seats in a bus? Bit much. Not going to go over well in my house. The trouble makers are still going to be in the back of the bus...now it will be for a whole semester. Are they going to assign different seats by the bus driver if someone acts up? Next thing we'll see them taking attendance before they take off in the morning.

I do not agree with this new policy (re assigned seats) at all.

I know kids that acted up on some of our busses were removed from them. Not sure if it was for a certain amount of time or permanently. Parents were then responsible to get their "little darlings" to school.

Assigned seats on a middle school bus? That's ridiculuous - let's suck the fun out of that, too by overreacting and instituting yet more rules. Does the Administration think through this stuff? Do they care how much the kids are going to HATE this new rule? It doesn't appear that's taken into consideration.

Pre Dr. D when enough parents got upset about late start, it was tabled. Maybe we can make a difference with this one now that he's on the way out?

Bus route information is now available online at busroute.ipsd.org/elinkrp/search.aspxOnline route information is for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Please note Wednesday bus times will be 20 minutes later for middle and high school and 10 minutes later for elementary school to accommodate the Professional Development Wednesdays program. Stop locations and times are subject to minor revision after the start of the school year. Your student's bus driver will communicate any changes to pick-up times prior to implementation. Please remember to have your children at the appointed stop five minutes prior to the stated pick up time. Parents who want to request changes to their stops must use the on-line form at ipsdweb.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/Transportation. All requests will be reviewed once school begins and bus routes are stabilized after Sept. 15. Please do not contact First Student directly regarding route changes. The transportation department is introducing several initiatives to proactively address student safety. This year, all students eligible for transportation in grades 6 through 12 will be required to present their student ID card when boarding the morning and afternoon bus. All students will be given a time during the first week of the school year to adjust to this new routine. Please note, students without an ID card will be allowed to board the morning bus, but will need to obtain a new ID card or temporary pass from the school before boarding the afternoon bus. Another change this year is that all kindergarten through eighth-grade students will have assigned seats on the bus. Students will select their own seats once school begins and can change seats at the semester break. Complete transportation information is online at ipsdweb.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx/TransportationIf you have a question about transportation, please contact Karla Zozulia, director of support services, at 204-Bus@ipsd.org.

My two high schoolers have the same bus stop for morning and afternoon but one will be going to WV and one to MV. There aren't any times listed for either of them. All it says it that they will ride.... Did anyone get actual times assigned?

For NV parents with freshman kids...
I also noticed that, at least for our stop, the main campus bus stops at the same stop as the Gold bus, only 3 minutes earlier. This shouldn't be an issue since the freshman have their ID cards with bus number, but you might want to warn your 9th grader to watch the bus number before boarding if he/she gets to the stop early.
