Indian Prairie School District 204 announced the launch of redesigned websites
for Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley High Schools and unveiled a newly created
site for the soon to open Metea Valley High School.
The three high school websites are part of a larger project to redesign all 33
school websites. Six of the district's 21 elementary schools are already
redesigned. The elementary schools with a new online look are Georgetown,
Patterson, Peterson, Spring Brook, Welch, and White Eagle. The district is
planning to complete the remaining schools by next summer.
The new design was created by district web coordinator Greg Gibson in order to
improve navigation, increase visual appeal, and give schools more control over
site content. "It's more than a makeover. We've reworked every aspect of these
sites to make it easier for our schools to post up-to-date information -- and
for visitors to find that information. The sites have been streamlined, yet
they're built to grow gracefully in the coming years." Gibson said.
Work began on the new websites last September. Gibson spent time developing a
new content management system that could be implemented at all of the district's
websites, which contain more than 20,000 web pages plus documents. Since then,
he's worked with high school staff members to prepare their sites for launch.
"Nobody knows the needs of their students and parents better than those who work
in the buildings. Their involvement throughout the development process was
essential," Gibson said.
Last year, more than 1 million visitors viewed content on the high schools'
websites.
