Dear District 204 Parents/Guardians,
As our busing system settles into an improved routine, we wish to extend our apologies to the students and parents who use the district's transportation services for the difficult and frustrating start to the school year and to express our commitment to continuous improvement.
At this time, bus routes are running much smoother, with some adjustments and tweaks still being made. Our next big push will be daycare requests and individual stop location change requests. The transportation department is being assisted by staff from other areas to complete these tasks even quicker than in the past. We ask for your patience as we methodically work through these requests.
We are assessing the feedback we've received from parents, principals, bus drivers, First Student management, support services staff and others regarding their thoughts and ideas for improvement. We are committed to learning from this year so we can make improvements and provide outstanding service for our parents and students.
In an effort to limit additional changes for this year, assigned seating will not be implemented district-wide, but will continue to be at the discretion of the building principal. We are also placing the requirement for students to present their ID before boarding a bus on hold for further review.
Once again, we apologize for the difficult transportation start and state our commitment to bringing you better service.
Sincerely,
David Holm, Assistant Superintendent of Business
Karla Zozulia, Director of Support Services
