www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/1805236,6_1_NA04_EDBRIEFS_S1-091004.article Waubonsie Valley plans collage concertWaubonsie Valley High School music students welcome ethnomusicologist, composer, and "Master Drummer" Sowah Mensah to the school for the Fall Collage Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the school's auditorium, 2590 Ogden Ave. in Aurora. The concert is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m.The concert features all the Waubonsie Valley choirs performing a wide variety of music including folk songs from Haiti, South Africa and Brazil in addition to spirituals, gospel music, and the greatest hits of Pergolesi, Mozart, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and the rock band Journey. The concert will close with choirs performing traditional Ghanaian music with Mensah. The musician is originally from Ghana and is a professor of music at both Macalester College and the University of St. Paul in St. Paul, Minn. Mensah previously worked with Waubonsie Valley students in January 2009 for the school's annual Meet the Artist concert.
