It does matter because millions of taxpayer money has been wasted and are still being wasted. This district now faces deficits around 9 million. Around the same amount it cost to hurry up and build the school. Now a bridge loan for the land we can not sell on the BB site. Land that is good for retention.

Of course that matters....Personally I thought they should never have purchased the 25 acres when they did from the get-go. That was a bit of deception on Howie's part, claiming they would use it for a MS if needed.......... What I meant that did not matter was what anyone would say to doc.....

Nope they would have had the same expidite costs if at BB. so starting Oct 1, 2007 wouldn't have taken care of that - please explain how it would not have ? I think you are right, in that case we wouldnt have had to pay expedite costs. (but the land decision was made in Jan 2008, not Oct 2007.) But we all know if we built at BB , whether construction started in fall of '07 or spring of '08, the SD would have run out of construction money and the school would have been built without some combination of an auditorium, stadium, and pool.

Because the $17M in land cost savings were completely eaten up by the increased construction costs due to the delays and the decision to expedite the construction ...... Per my memory, this statement is not correct.

As far as this thread topic goes, if there were any fundamental mistake made here, this was it.

Yes...once BB sold us this land, which was essentially worthless to us without the other 55, they had the additional leverage to hold out for top dollar.

The SD didn't loose the condemnation trial. They just didn't get the price they wanted. They could of started to build MV back in Oct. 07. There would of been great reduction in construction price back then and we would not have spent the 10 million to hurry up and open a half completed school.

Since you mentioned the "half completed" part, I'd like to point out that the school is much more than half-completed, and the most of the parts that are still under construction have been barely noticeable (i.e. haven't negatively impacted anyone) other than probably the pool.

Right. I don't see why having the junior and senior wings unavailable would matter when we have no juniors or seniors! There have been some creative workarounds for the lack of auditorium space and no issues related to that so far as I know.

This begs the question...it seems as though it is customary to open a new high school with just underclassmen, but I can't find much discussion on the reasons why. Assuming a school is completely built, why wouldn't you want to open with all four classes? Or at least three?
