Eighteen Chicagoland high schools, including Neuqua Valley, will share more $400,000 in grants over a three-year period to enhance their drug and alcohol prevention efforts. The high school grants are part of a pilot program of the Cebrin Goodman Center and will fund a variety of drug prevention endeavors at the schools. Programming funded by the grants will include: public speaking events, activities to bolster parent involvement, public awareness campaigns, peer mentoring programs, online alcohol education courses and drug-free activity nights. Recipients are the following high schools: Neuqua Valley, Buffalo Grove, Glenbard East, Glenbard North, Glenbard South, Glenbard West, Glenbrook South, Hoffman Estates, Lake Park East, Lake Park West, Libertyville, Lisle, Maine South, Maine West, Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg and Vernon Hills. Involvement in the prevention contests program, along with several stages of participation, qualified schools to apply for the grants.
