Food-packing volunteers needed for Haiti relief
January 14, 2010—While millions of Haitians face the utter devastation of Tuesday’s earthquake, people right here in Chicagoland can make a difference in Haiti relief efforts.
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a Minnesota-based nonprofit, is calling all Chicagoland residents to donate time and funds for life-saving meals in the coming days and weeks.
FMSC needs thousands more volunteers in the next six weeks for its food-packing site in Aurora. Daytime volunteers are especially needed. FMSC has also opened the following emergency food-packing shifts. Volunteers must call the Aurora site (630.851.0404) to sign up.
Sunday, Jan. 17: 2-4 p.m.
Sunday, Jan. 24: 2-4 p.m.
Donation information is available at www.fmsc.org.
About Feed My Starving Children in Haiti
Minnesota-based FMSC has worked with mission partners in Haiti for more than 10 years and currently holds close partnerships with nearly 200 Haiti-based programs. Several of these programs are already offering FMSC meals to victims of Tuesday’s earthquake. One million meals are currently on the ground in Haiti, and immediate volunteer efforts will produce an additional three million meals for Haiti relief. FMSC will rely on local and national support to provide these meals. Haiti updates are available at www.fmsc.org/haitiearthquakeresponse.
FMSC is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand pack meals designed specially for starving children, and FMSC ships the meals to more than 60 countries around the world. Each meal costs only 17 cents to produce. For more information, visit www.fmsc.org.
