I really don't understand how there is much money to be saved by having administration work a 4 day week in the summer. It seems like a plan many like to have anyway - 4 longer days in order to have three day weekends.
This means that the sessions of summer driver's ed at MVHS that were scheduled to meet 4 five day weeks now meets 5 four day weeks instead. While not that big a deal, it does tie up all families involved for an additional week. There must be other summer school sessions affected as well.

I thouht the idea was that the air condiioner, lights wouldn't be on, etc for the 5th day. Honestly, I don't see a whole lot of cost savings going on either. Actually, can we be sure the admin will really work full 10-hour days 4 days of the week? Some sure, but certainly not all. By forgeoing raises and working 4-day weeks they are essentially giving themeselve raises and inconveniencing families at the same time. Was DE supposed to be on Friday? Between band camps and all my kids have been involved in it always seemed like Friday was an off, or rain date, anyway.

Yes, it was originally scheduled to go M-F for four weeks and we've gotten several notices (via the weekly announcements) about the change to M-Th for five weeks instead. It wasn't until my child went for a meeting Tuesday that I realized it had to do with building closure. I knew the CEC was closing on Fridays but didn't know the school buildings would be as well (though it makes sense).

There would be little savings with respect to utilities. The air conditioning is still on for 40 hours, whether it's 4x10 or 5x8.
This sounds like a plan that benefits no one but the administrators.
