Penn. school touts safety angle

BY CHERYL JACKSON Staff Reporter Too violent in Chicago? Send your kids to boarding school in Pennsylvania.
That, in essence, is the pitch that leaders of a predominantly black boarding school about 40 miles west of Philadelphia are making. Pine Forge Academy -- where tuition is about $20,000 a year -- doesn't have any students from Chicago now. But it hopes to attract some.
With a Father's Day gala today, it's launching a campaign targeting Chicago, focusing on parents worried about their children's safety. Barbara W. Massey, executive director of the coed school's foundation, said the school's leaders decided to "take a look at places where the public school system was really, really struggling."
