www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=389323&src=76Dist. 203 leaders won't be getting raises By Melissa Jenco | Daily Herald 6/21/10 Naperville Unit District 203 Superintendent Mark Mitrovich has turned down the bonus his contract provides. In addition, no district administrators will be receiving pay increases in the 2010-11 budget. The salary decisions came Monday as the school board approved the budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. Under his contract, Mitrovich was eligible for a bonus of up to 5 percent of his base salary of $203,000. He quietly removed the bonus from board consideration Monday. When asked about that decision after the meeting, he would only say it won't soon be back. The district's total budget for the upcoming fiscal year is $264.8 million, which includes $218.8 million in operating expenses - an increase of 0.64 percent over the current year's budget, according to Dave Zager, assistant superintendent for finance. The remaining $46 million is earmarked for construction costs as the district continues its $114.9 million in facilities projects. The new budget includes opening the Ann Reid Early Childhood Center in the fall and the purchase of new Student Information System software. The district also will expand its hot lunch program. In a contract approved in March, teachers agreed to a salary freeze in the first year of the new three-year deal. The district also is not giving raises to administrators in the upcoming year. Mitrovich said Monday the board also has reached a tentative agreement with its custodial workers union.
