This week, O’Donnell and his administrative assistant will complete five-day furloughs as part of the district’s deficit reduction plan. This saved the district $5,436, Finance Director Tim Neubauer said. All teachers and administration workers in the Oswego School District were required to furlough for one day in 2010, which occurred on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Neubauer said. That measure saved the district about $280,000. According to Neubauer, this is the first round of furloughs issued for School District employees in the district’s history. According to O’Donnell’s contract renewed July 1, he has the right to cash in up to 10 unused vacation days by June 1 of the year for which he is requesting reimbursement.
