District Communications Office Receives National Award
Reported by email@example.com on 6/23/11
District 204's Communication Services Department received national recognition for the district's internal communications program.
The National School Public Relations Association presented the district with a Golden Achievement Award for exemplary communications. Award judges sought outstanding achievement in the four steps of a public relations program: analysis of the need, planning to meet the need, execution and communication of the program, and formal evaluation.
Recent internal communications efforts that helped earn the award include creating a new monthly staff newsletter and redesigning the staff website. Superintendent Kathy Birkett has listed communications as an area of focus since her appointment in 2009. During the past year, she enhanced communication efforts by attending meetings at each of the district's 33 schools to share information directly with staff members.
