Unbelieveable that they want us to pay for their lobbyist that opposed quick-take. How ironic is that? If their well-paid lobbyist hadn't done so well, we would have been building there right now. I believe they were on the side called the DEFENDANT Let's be honest though, if they got QT powers and started, would they still have paid the high price of 518K or found a way to back out?

Certainly not the $20 - $65 million some spoke of. these costs were the ones forecasted - they do not cover any damages which is what the remaining suits cover. No one said there was $20M - $65M in legal fees. As a taxpayer I hope they get thrown out - but let's not overlook the suits are still open. You mean the "damages" that have no legal precedent or statutory basis, like the NSFOC lawsuit? Lets see if Popejoy is ready to set that kind of Eminent Domain precedent without a statute to support his judgement. Cheers.

I know it's easy to scoff - but this is my money too, and I'll feel better when they are gone and not open. Funny things happen in courtrooms sometimes - ( usually juries I admit) - ask OJ or Robert Blake etc.

Thats why it irks me when I hear of people rooting for BB to win big just to spite the school board and claim "I told you so". And to clarify, this is not directed towards you personally, Dr. Who, but towards who would rather cut their nose to spite their face. Like you, I sincerely hope Popejoy throws out the damage claims just like he did the NSFOC lawsuit. The Brodie suit explictly states that the "statute is silent" on the subject of damages - I hope that prevails. Cheers.

Oh trust me I'd love to see some of the SB members have to own up for some of the nonsense that has gone on the last 2 years - but I agree totally - I certainly am not willing to spend my share of another $20M or so to see that happen. What goes around , comes around...that day will come. The people one treats like crap on the way up a ladder, are the same ones they will meet on the way back down.

We do have some agreement on that - I'm no great fan of the SB and how it has handled the past few years. Next election time is when a change can be forced. Cheers.

If they got QT and had exercised it, I don't know how they would have found a way to back out when the clear and obvious downside to QT was they were bound by whatever price the jury came back with. How would they have backed out when the law was so clear on that point?

I think this time will be somewhat of a slam dunk as I don't believe a lot of the incumbents are going to run again -- I am waiting to start work on 2011 election though. To be a candidate next April, one better have very thick skin will be my guess.

But if QT had succeeded we would have been forced to pay the jury-awarded price which was too expensive. Isn't that correct? There have been a couple of snafu's along the way that worked out ok in the end (QT and MWGen controversy).

I we had gotten QT passed, we could have afforded the jury price because the construction costs would have been much lower than now with no need for expediting anything. It was the combination of the 2 that doomed BB.
