This under/over pass would allow a lot of that traffic to go south without having to go all the way over to Eola. I guess they wouldn't be building this any time soon, though, huh? Well, I can still dream. My other (road improvement) dream is having North Aurora be widened to 4/5 lanes all the way from 59 to Eola. The biggest barrier is the 2-lane EJ&E underpass. I thought there was a plan for North Aurora Rd in that area? I remember a meeting about it a year or so ago. All I recall was there being a plan for a plan. I think they might have planned on funding a study to determine what it would take & what it would cost to widen the underpass. But I don't know if/when they even plan on doing that. ETA: The most recent info I found on this was from 2007: www.naperville.il.us/northauroraunderpass.aspxfrom the "brochure": ugh, no earlier than 2011

Here is the link to the city of naperville webpage: www.naperville.il.us/northauroraunderpass.aspxWhen / if this project is finished, north aurora rd. would be 4 lanes where there is currently only 2.

FYI.... This summer there is a big campaign for "sting" operations along the Indian Trial Corridor Rt. 25 to Rt 59. How do I know this you ask? Yesterday I found out first hand from the very apologetic nice young police officer as he handed me my speeding ticket. There were four other cars pulled over at about the same time (isn't it sort of a "Chicago Guideline" to keep up with the flow of traffic? ). He said it will be going on all summer. ;D Thank goodness my teenager wasn't in the car ....I would have never heard the end of this!!!

I got pulled over on the new stretch on Indian Trail between Stonebridge Blvd. and Farnsworth over spring break. Fortunately, I was only issued a warning. I have to set my cruise on that stretch because the speed limit is 35, and on a 4 lane road, that seems to slow. I have since noticed that on the stretch between Stonebridge Blvd and Eola that the police are extra sneaky. An officer sometimes stands on the median with a radar gun while another officer is on a side street with the car waiting for the call to pull you over. A few friends have been pulled over that way. Heads up all the way around!

They'll have 4 cop cars there all day long along Indian Trail, just pulling people over all day long. Nobody goes 30 along that stretch.

Diehl between Eola and 59 they are constantly pulling people over. Frequently with multiple police officers patrolling the road. This annoys me, I think the speed limits on both roads - which I travel regularly, is too low and there really should be nothing wrong with driving a higher more natural speed on them.

They have resumed coordination work on this project. They will have a public meeting for this in late summer or fall. The original schedule had a public meeting planned for Feb 2008, so they're clearly not ahead of the original schedule.

WE4 - you'll be running right past my house - know that we'll be cheering you and all who do this as you go by. My oldest daughter plans to participate in this next year - she has started training with a trainer for these types of events ( she misses the competition)

Construction to shift I-Pass lanes
June 26, 2008 By MATT HANLEY The Beacon News
Starting this morning, drivers passing through the Aurora toll plaza in the westbound lanes of Interstate 88 should find a new lane configuration.
Construction was scheduled to begin Wednesday night to shift the westbound I-Pass lanes of I-88.
Both I-Pass lanes will shift to the right. There will still be two I-Pass lanes. Starting Friday morning, both eastbound lanes will also shift to the right, without reducing the number of lanes. There will be overnight lane closures to make the changes.
The entire area will have a 45 mph speed limit because it will be a construction zone. But the Tollway Authority does not expect major traffic delays once people get used to the new lane arrangement.
"It's possible the first day or so there might be a small impact," said tollway spokesman Jan Kemp.
Both the eastbound and westbound lanes will stay in their altered configurations for six weeks, Kemp said.
The shift in lanes is part of a plan to add an I-Pass lane on both sides of the Aurora toll plaza.
Several rebuild and widen projects have already begun on the 23-mile stretch of I-88 between Oak Brook and North Aurora. The four separate rebuilding and widening projects, meant to ease congestion, are scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.
The ramps on Route 31 are also part of the project, as well as the bridge carrying Route 31 over I-88. Detours will be in place during several phases of the project while individual ramps are closed for reconstruction. The project will also remove the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad Bridge structure over I-88, just west of the Route 31 interchange.

Traffic shift planned for I-88 interchangeJuly 29, 2008 Sun staff As part of the ongoing work to rebuild and reconfigure the Route 53 interchange on the Reagan Memorial Tollway, a major stage change is scheduled Wednesday to redirect exiting westbound traffic onto a newly configured ramp, The work is part of the Interstate 88 Rebuild & Widen Project between Washington Street and Finley Road. The traffic shift is scheduled for Wednesday, dependent on the weather, closing the existing westbound exit from I-88 to southbound Route 53 and moving all exiting traffic onto the newly constructed exit ramp that currently carries I-88 traffic exiting to northbound Route 53. A signalized interchange at the bottom of the ramp will allow traffic to turn left onto southbound Route 53 or right onto northbound Route 53. Demolition work will then begin on the existing southbound exit ramp, which must be completed in order to shift the westbound mainline local lanes onto the newly reconstructed pavement on the right so work can begin to rebuild the inside lanes where traffic is currently traveling. This mainline traffic shift is scheduled for late summer. For the latest information on construction and traffic on tollway roads, visit www.illinoistollway.com or call 800-865-5394.

For those who care. 4:30 PM yesterday from Eola/Molitor to 75th and Modaff = 18Min route - Eola to New York to SB Rt 59 to EB 75th. About 50% red lights. Longest wait at light 75th and Rickert/Naper-Plainfield. No speed laws broken.

Longest wait at light 75th and Rickert/Naper-Plainfield. No speed laws broken. no rain, no snow- summer traffic. Also if you made it there in 18 minutes - the time to WVHS would be 1/2 of that - still double the time. Again, I have made it to Orlando in 18 hours and other times it has taken me 21 hours - it's the norm that matters. Please make sure you post when the time is 30 minutes also. And now with the potential CN issue - that drive for our 16-17 year olds just got potentially a lot worse, congestion wise and RR crossing wise.. Not to mention buses and routes. so no matter how this drive is painted- it is still twice the driive ( time wise) to MVHS vs. WVHS ot NVHS from my area , whether that is a good trip or a bad trip that day. So whether it is 1/2 of 18 minutes or 1/2 of 35 minutes, the fact that that both others schools are 1/2 the time or less is wrong. Already stated that I have made it to WVHS in under 10 minutes. so again not understanding the need to post good times when they happen ? I made it to Glenbard West in under 30 minutes one of 3 days last week to drop my daughter at a VB camp, but I don't like that school commute either.

Latest reports show the country driving billions of miles less in part due to fuel costs. That means less people on the road for less time all around at the moment. I was amazed how 'clear' 75th street was heading east on Saturday evening. Westbound was bumper to bumper, eastbound was clear wide open all the way down to Hinsdale South HS.
