I would love to see some reminders of what is good about having a third HS in the district.
What are some things we can be happy about?

- No crowded hallways trying to pass between classes
- Lunchtimes won't have to start at 9:30 am
- More opportunities to "make the team" as there won't be as many vying for the same positions.
- more cross-town rivalry opportunities (I see this as a positive)
- the opportunity to meet peers from other areas of the district
- shorter commutes for some areas
- more opportunities for some quality, dedidated staff to lead our students
- more opportunities for students to shine in less crowded classrooms
- more opportunities in state competitions (adademic and athletic)
ETA: thought of more things to add

By the way, rural-- good topic. A much needed reminder of what is good about adding Metea Valley to our already fine group of schools amidst the distractions of late. A good way to promote unity, healing and some positive comments here.

How about the ability to return to a focus on teaching/learning rather than the logistics of juggling students?

IMHO this will probably be the last building the SD will need for the foreseeable future.
No more worrying about building and now we can focus more on teaching (which was excellent already).

Another marching band in the neighborhood parades? ;D
I just love to see the marching bands. D203 and 204 have excellent marching band programs from what I've seen.

A third HS is the best thing for this district. One thing that makes 204 stand out are the number of kids that are involved in sports, activities etc. This as opposed to other areas where kids just aren't interested and it is like pulling teeth to get anyone to come out for sports and in school activities. 204 kids are all involved. Now that more kids will be allowed it compete on the field or make the chorus etc we will have a more positive outlook and this sordid mess will soon be forgotten.Once Metea gets going all of what happened will be like a bad dream fading.

When complete, the capacity will be there to handle the worst-case scenario on student population forecasts.
That is a good thing to have the contingencies in place and be able to cover the bases.

Lets not forget, when Metea opens, the critical overcrowding of our middle schools ends.
Scullen gets to retire its mobile classrooms. Our other middle schools get breathing room.
