During its Monday meeting, the District 204 board decided to give residents two weeks to apply for the post vacated last week when member Bruce Glawe announced his resignation. Applications must be turned in by noon Aug. 25 - the first day of classes in the district - and the applications should contain a letter explaining the applicant's interest in the position, and a resume that includes highlights of the applicant's work within the realm of education. Applicants should be sent to board Secretary Janel Buchner at janel_buchner@ipsd.org or at 780 Shoreline Drive, Aurora, IL 60504. The board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 25. After a review of the applications, it will decide how it will select a new member. "For instance, I imagine we would treat four people different than we'd treat 40," board President Mark Metzger said. The board last selected a member to fill a vacant seat in May 2006, when it appointed current member Alka Tyle to fill a position vacated upon the resignation of Bruce Rodman. A year earlier, it appointed current member Curt Bradshaw to replace Diane Loosbrock. In both instances, 24 residents applied for the vacant positions, and the board interviewed each applicant.
