I have a neighbor whose sixth grade son is a bit forgetful regarding homework and bringing home books in middle school. And let's not mention that these books can be very heavy in the backpacks.
She introduced me to the fact that many of the district's school books can be puchased on-line.
I ordered a set of used books for my daughter this year through Amazon.com. There was one expensive one at $50.00 but the rest of the books were under $5.00 each and that included shipping! Now she doesn't have to lug the books home at night. And I'm sure I will be able to find someone with a younger child to pass them on next year.
The list of books for all grades can be found on-line at the d204 website under "Instruction".

Some of the MS textbooks are on CD which the school has. My daughter never brought 1 of her books home last year, honestly I cannot remember which one it was but it was heavy.

Wow, fantastic tips guys. We are strugging again with the paperwork flow from the teacher>>student>>parent. Nice to know you can get the books on CD as well.

It was her math book, 7th grade accelerated math, that was on CD. Another textbook was on line. She didn't like to use it on line but it was helpful when she left her book at school.

I think the science books are on-line too. We sometimes had problems accessing that which was frustrating. The CD thing seems nice.
