www.suburbanchicagonews.com/napervillesun/news/1172984,6_1_NA19_FIGHT_S1.article Four arrested in fight at high school September 19, 2008 By ELISABETH KILPATRICK The Beacon News Students at Waubonsie Valley High School got some unwanted excitement Thursday night when a fight broke out during Warriorfest, the kickoff event for the school's homecoming week. Police were called to the scene at 7:45 p.m. for a fight taking place on the school's football field. By the time officers arrived, high school staff had already broken up the melee, Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said. Shortly after 8 p.m., close to 20 squad cars and other police vehicles still lined Waubonsie Valley's drive, while clusters of students huddled nearby and watched the commotion. Some students reported that police barred anyone from entering or leaving the football field after the fight. The fight resulted in four arrests, but no injuries. Three of those arrested are Waubonsie Valley students, Ferrelli said, while the fourth is a student at another school. He could not provide identities or elaborate on charges Thursday night. Fights are not all that common at Waubonsie Valley, a group of students said, but there has been a rash of them recently. "We've had a lot of fights this week," one boy said

Not enough, IMO - I want to hear about specific actions to reduce the possibility for this happening in or around the school:
September 19, 2008
Dear Warrior Parents, Last night's Warriorfest should have been a wonderful kick-off to homecoming for our students. Unfortunately, a number of our students used poor judgment and were involved in a fight. Our staff and the police responded swiftly and appropriately. We want to make it clear that we will not tolerate the behavior displayed by a few, last night. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
We reminded students today that Warrior pride and respect is always the expectation. I would ask that you speak with your child to reinforce the importance of making good decisions. I am looking forward to seeing you at tonight’s game at North Central College, as we face our sister school Neuqua.
Thank you for your support,
Kristine Marchiando Principal, Waubonise Valley High School

If these kids had prior discipline issues, then maybe this was a known problem and they should not be allowed to attend this sort of event. Though that seems like it would be hard to enforce.

Four arrested in fight at high school .... Some students reported that police barred anyone from entering or leaving the football field after the fight. .... Just for the record, if people were barred from entering or leaving, it was for a few moments only. I pulled into the parking lot coincidently when one of the the first squad cars arrived. Then as I was finding a parking spot, more and more and more kept arriving (I thought about a dozen). Yes, I was wondering what was going on. By the time I walked to the gate which was about 7:45 (and somebody explained to me, "there was a fight between some students") people were freely coming and going. There were police standing at the entry. I just walked right in. The excitement was over, and the crowd got ready for and then enjoyed the fireworks.

The police response sounds typical. Had it happened at NVHS, Naperville PD would have responded the same, in fact from my past experience with NPD, they would have probably responded with even more cars. We do the same here when responding to our HS (Glenbard South)....we call it "the blue wave"....

The fireworks were much more exciting than watching four idiots being carted off in a paddy wagon ....although we did wave goodbye !!! I also have to say I think they are using the term "students", when referring to the four, rather loosely if you get my drift.
