I hope they get this in today and that the weather cooperates. Great event !!Softball event to help charities October 24, 2008 Sun staff Middle schools in Indian Prairie School District 204 are raising funds for local charities by holding a softball game at 4:15 p.m. today at Frontier Park, south of 95th Street between Route 59 and Book Road, behind Crone Middle School. All six District 204 middle schools - Crone, Grange, Gregory, Hill, Scullen and Still - plan to participate and raise money for local food pantries. Superintendent Stephen Daeschner and others will serve as umpires for the games, and all proceeds from the concession stands will be donated. Today's event expands on efforts begun in 2005, when Crone and Scullen competed in softball games to raise money to benefit people affected by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi. Last year, the district's six middle schools all participated in the softball event for the first time. Over the past three years, the schools have raised about $57,000 that was donated to support rebuilding efforts for areas affected by the hurricane.
