A big storm coming our way. We will see how much snow and ice Mother Nature sends us. I wonder if school will be open the last day before Winter Break?
If they cannot open school tomorrow....this has to be the very worst day for a snow day for the HS final schedule! Background for those without HS students.....finals have been Wed, Thur, Fri this week. So students have on average a third of their finals each day. (Some harder than others of course!). I say Friday is "worst day" because if were a snow day on Wed or Thur....at least there is a day to "catch up" and double up on the finals for the following day. Would these Friday finals happen after break? There would be some unhappy kids if these tests were hanging over their heads during break! I guess there would be some happy kids too, if they felt like they had a unexpected "repreive".
For students in ES and MS....I dont think a whole lot goes on the last day before break. For them and their parents, they may think "easy call....just cancel school". But a snow day tomorrow would surely mess up the HS finals.
I guess we will see what happens with the storm.

I really don't want school cancelled tomorrow - my college and HS students both have finals, my middle-schooler has more of a fun day going on tomorrow, and at the grade schools there are class parties that multiple people for each and every classroom throughout the district have spent time, energy, and money planning for.
In my case, most of our supplies would keep if the party has to be postponed but it would be an awful waste if they don't wind up rescheduling it to Jan. and we may need to find different volunteers.
The weather forecast seems to be one of the worst I've ever seen.

While HS has the heavy duty classroom stuff going on tomorrow, there still are some big events at the other schools too. I dont want school canceled either! Maybe, just maybe, the nasty icy stuff will be south of us and it will just be snow to deal with here. But even still, it may be lots of snow. Ice storm, downed power lines, tree limbs down....ugly.
