Grammy Award

The Grammy Foundation announced Neuqua Valley High School has one of the top three music education programs in the country. The school will receive a Grammy award and a $5,000 grant as a 2009 Grammy Signature Schools Gold winner.
Neuqua Valley is one of 14 schools nationwide to be honored by the Grammy Foundation as part of the organization's recognition of public high schools that make an outstanding commitment to music education.
This is the eighth time that Neuqua Valley has been recognized, including being named the top music program in the country in 2005. WVHS Athlete Crowned
National Champion

Waubonsie Valley High School senior Shakeia Pinnick was crowned the National Champion in the pentathlon at the NIKE High School Indoor Championships held earlier this month in Boston. Shakeia ran an amazing 800 meter race in which she beat the current leader by 16 seconds. According to High School Track Annual, Shakeia's final score ranks her as the tenth all-time fastest in the U.S.

Art Exhibit

Seventeen Indian Prairie art teachers will exhibit their personal artwork in Meiley-Swallow Hall on the campus of North Central College in downtown Naperville from April 6 to May 3. Gallery hours are from 7 am to 10 pm on Monday through Thursday and 7 am to 7 pm on Friday. The public is welcome to attend a reception taking place on the final day of the exhibit from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
Participating teachers are Mollie Bozarth, Adam Johnson, Nicholas Gehl, Carol Kinast, Karen Popovich, David Smith, Lisa Morgan, Carolyn Steward, Heidi Parkes, Karyl Silerzio, Mike Vandeleur, Kathryn Parenti, Bob Driscoll, Joyce Fridlund, Katherine Thrush, Joan Mills, and Steve Jones.

Up with Food Pantry

Longwood Elementary School recently celebrated its 20th Anniversary of providing support to Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry by sponsoring a highly successful food drive. The goal was to collect 2,000 items that Loaves and Fishes could distribute to area families in need. Longwood families generously exceeded the goal and a total of 2,566 items were collected. To thank the students for their efforts, Naperville Mayor George Pradel is visiting the school on April 6 to have lunch with students.
