MOYER cmoyer@scn1.com A student at Long Beach Elementary School made up a story that men tried to abduct her Monday morning near the Montgomery school, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Department. Police said the fifth-grader returned home shortly after being dropped off at school and told her parents two to three men wearing ski masks tried to abduct her near Long Beach and Ingleshire roads. Kendall County officers responded to the school, at 67 Long Beach Road, around 8:32 a.m. and investigated the incident. Police said the student left school grounds after realizing some important school work had been left inside the parent's vehicle. "The investigation also revealed that the incident had not occurred and the story was fabricated by the student," the sheriff's office said in a press release. Later Monday, the Oswego Police Department recommended a precautionary lockdown for Old Post Elementary School in Oswego, after a resident reported seeing a person walking across school grounds who looked like he could be carrying a weapon, said Kristine Liptrot, Oswego schools director of communication. The school was locked down around 2:15 p.m. and students were dismissed on time, Liptrot said. Oswego police were not immediately available to discuss the incident and its outcome.
