The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) announced the honorees for this year's Excellence in Education program. Each year, the IPEF recognizes the "Top 30" seniors based on their grade point average. The students represent approximately the top 3 percent of their graduating class.
As part of the recognition, each student is asked to name a teacher who served as a source of inspiration for his or her academic success. Mary Anne Castro, IPEF secretary, said the program is special because it not only honors the student's hard work, but it provides a platform for the students to thank their teachers. "This honor is often the highlight of a teaching career, and we've had teachers travel from across the country to participate in this recognition."
Neuqua Valley students and their influential educators are: Martin Amesquita (Gillian Schneider), Apoorva Anandan (Hugh Flanders), Sarah Campbell (Morrine Johnson), Varun Char (Laura Dabezic), Peggy Chau (Michael Kennedy), Joseph Cronin (Michael Rossi), Pooja Garg (Hugh Flanders), Victoria Han (Michael Kennedy), Joy Hua (Lisa Ryder), Sabih Jafri (Arnoush Javaherian), Sana Kagalwalla (Lisa Ryder), Megha Kilaru (Hugh Flanders), Alexander Kotsovos (Paul Vandersteen), Steven Li (Brad Pfeil), Sophie Luo (Bill Savage), Jodi Meyer (Kathleen Torres), Rupa Mirmira (Jann Hawkins), Marissa Onsager (Vanessa Liveris), Katelyn Reimers (Kathryn Parenti), Karuna Relwani (Tim McCoskey), Michael Rooney (Clayton Figi), Sathish Sekar (Matt Kirkpatrick), Monica Sridhar (Vanessa Liveris), Kelsey Stimple (Bill Yanisch), Melissa Tang (Lori Lauff), Aneesh Tyle (Matt Kirkpatrick), Emily Wang (Bill Savage), Keith Whitlock (Michael Rossi), Cassie Zhang (Andrea Bockewitz), Kevin Zhang (Bill Yanisch).

The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation was created in 1988 to complement and enhance the educational opportunities provided to students attending schools in District 204. With the help of private donations received from District businesses, civic organizations, parents and staff members, the Foundation supports the development of program enrichments and services not normally financed with tax dollars. A vital part of the Indian Prairie community, the IPEF provides "educational extras" that make the difference between a very good school system and an excellent one.
