D204 students compete at SkillsUSA

Sun staff Fifty-one applied technology students from Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley high schools competed in the SkillsUSA state competition in April, according to a District 204 E-News release.
The hands-on competitions ranged from 4 to 8 hours in length, with projects being judged by industry professionals.
Peter Happ of Waubonsie qualified for the national competition next month in Kansas City. Waubonsie student Richard Romanowski won third place in the 2008 SkillsUSA National Peer Recruitment Video Contest sponsored by SkillsUSA and SchoolTube.

The skillsusa program is a great district wide event that my eldest son took part in last year. Though his performance was not what he expected, it did help him during his first year at college. The experience also was of great help in procuring an internship with the city of Naperville for the summer. Nice to see our district so widely represented.
