I am posting this not only for present Warrior families, but also for those Soon-to-Be Warrior families. This would be a nice opportunity for those who will be transitioning into WV, to see what the Warrior Community is all about.
The WVHS Booster Club is inviting all hard working Warriors and families to the 2008 Pig Roast on Friday, August 22 from 4:30-8:00pm. The Warrior Kickoff Classic Pig Roast is a fun event for the whole family. Come out for dinner, to watch the athletic teams scrimmage and see the cheerleaders, poms and marching band perform. There will be music and activities for all ages sponsored by various teams and clubs. Bring spending money to support your school and plan to hang with your friends and family.
Meals will be catered by Uncle Bub's and you have a choice between pork sandwich or jumbo hot dog meal. Both come with 3 sides and 1 pop. Cost at the door is $8.00 which is limited.
eta: If you would like to pre-order your meal [$7.50], you can contact Sue Brown [630-898-3780] or Cindy Smith [630-209-6007]

Although I can't talk about this much without it bothering me -- this should be a must do for any future Warrior families- especially those with athletes. It is a great time,

This would be a nice opportunity for those who will be transitioning into WV, to see what the Warrior Community is all about. Good luck with the booster fundraising. As a prior big SD supporter, and future Warrior, I have made up my own mind not to support Mark Metzger's vision of crafting the future. My kids will go through the system. They will drain from it. I will give nothing back other than what I am required by law to do. Feel free to jump on me all you want, but these are the realities of what has been done. If the district wanted to reach out to future new Warriors, a few months ago would have been a great time to do it - in any, even small way.

I won't jump on you, that is your choice. I just feel sorry for your children. No matter what school my children would go to, I would support them and that school. But that is just me.

Boy, I know a certain booster club president who is going to be real disillusioned...... he did reach out to you ( but you would have been @ NV for orientation ) . As he reached out for your wallet- he slapped those of us from Watts/Cowlishaw there across the face. It's a night I will never forget after all the time/effort I put in there. may have to re-write that pitch he gave.

Save your self-righteous pity for those who need it. You can rest assured that I will support my children at every opportunity. However when that support calls for backing our school district financially, whether it be an individual school, or an operating referendum, this is a thing that I will no longer support. I will not reward the administration, or distict that has gone so far to bend reality to suit their agenda. You may feel that I am only one voice in the district... time will tell.

Don't worry, the pity isnt for you, again it is for your kids. I debated about posting about the Pig Roast as I feared it would become a b1tch session for some. That was not my purpose for posting it. It was to try to help with the transition of new families. An Olive Branch. I am not the SD. I am not the SB. I am a parent who has and will have children attending WV with new areas coming in. I am trying to welcome them....even YOU to WV.

I think it is a great idea and kudos to you T1P for posting this. I had no idea this even existed and I think it would be a great opportunity for future Warriors to attend and get their kids excited about their new school. There will always be those that don't care to participate. Like you said, that is too bad because the children suffer. To not support the boosters is to penalize your kids, not the SB. But I"m tired of preaching to the bitter choir. I'm glad it's out there for those that do still care to attend.

It's one parent posting about this event. There's no need to jump all over her for doing so. You have every right to feel as you do, but don't blame her for this post. If you aren't interested in attending, then simply ignore the post.

If the district wanted to reach out to future new Warriors, a few months ago would have been a great time to do it - in any, even small way. I'd like to respond to this last sentence. What was it, one month ago that the nFUD lawsuit was thrown out? As much as the SB felt confident that the lawsuit would not prevail, the reality was that, until the lawsuit was dismissed, there was a possibility of the lawsuit impacting, in one way or another with the construction of MV; the 09 opening of MV; the boundaries of MV; or the location of MV. By the time the lawsuit was dimissed, school was basically out. Now that there are no barriers, I'm sure that there will be plenty of transition work done during the 08-09 school year.

In all fairness it didn't stop them from signing millions of dollars of contracts and purchasing land during that time. Also not having land secured earlier did not stop them from having children pick mascot names/colors. Then can do what they want - as they have shown, they chose not to. I don't beliee the lawsuit can be used as a blanket for all of their behavior - as you said yourself they were confident it would fail. that being said, back on the thread. I personally would not punish the kids for the behavior of the leadership team, but I certainly understand how upset people are.
