I know this bill has been kicked around a few times over the years, and in my small amount of research, it looked like the funding discrepancies were fairly large 2 to 3 years ago. I looked at districts that I knew were poorly performing or generally economically depressed and was surprised to find that their funding currently is at or above 204's, so I don't know what happened in that 2 or so year span. Maybe there have been some funding changes along the way. The pattern was too solid for it all to have been from referendums passing. I also wonder if there is more of a discrepancy with downstate districts vs. the Chicago metropolitan area. When I did some web searches a month or so ago, it seemed like a lot of support was coming from that area vs. up here in the northern reaches.
Again, not a supporter of the bill - I can just see why it would look good on paper if you didn't have a stake in a particular district. I defintely agree that Springfield would surely mess this up.

My reply from Randy Hultgren about this bill - Thank you for emailing my office regarding SB2288, which would increase the income tax for individuals from 3% to 5% of the taxpayer's net income. By way of an update, this bill is currently on 2nd Reading in the Senate, which means it is still undergoing changes and amendments. I will take this issue into careful consideration if it is called for a vote. Thanks again for writing, and please feel free to do so in the future if I can assist. Sincerely, Randy Hultgren -- District Office of Senator Hultgren 1725 S. Naperville Rd. Suite 200 Wheaton, IL 60187 Phone 630.682.8100 Fax 630.682.8108 Senator Hultgren wants your input.
