King III is founder of Realizing a Dream, an organization with an international vision to carry out the important work embodied in the legacies of his father, civil rights leader the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his mother, Coretta Scott King. Realizing the Dream has launched Poverty in America, a tour of 50 impoverished communities across the nation, including Native American reservations, Appalachia, rural America and the nation's urban core communities. It also has launched a youth leadership development program that trains young people of all demographic profiles to become ethical and active decision makers in an interconnected world. During his Naperville visit, King is scheduled to speak to a select gathering of about 800 area students at Neuqua Valley High School. Originally, this was to be King's only appearance in Naperville. However, the lunch he was to have with a few select students has now been opened to the public. The lunch will take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 29 at Meson Sabika, 1025 Aurora Ave. Tickets for the lunch cost $45 and may be purchased by calling 847-567-1549 or visiting www.thinkglobalarts.org.
