I got this in a listserv announcement through Still MS. Things seem to be progressing nicely for Fischer as well.
Dear Fischer Community Members:
Happy New Year! Below are a few updates as to where we are in the planning and preparation for Fischer Middle School.
Staffing
All of the certified positions for Fischer Middle School were posted in December, and I am currently in the process of screening applications and interviewing candidates. I hope to be in a position to make a staffing announcement by mid-to late-February. Some parents have asked about the make-up of the teaching staff-Will it be all new teachers, or will some teachers be transferring from the other middle schools? Similar to the staffing with Metea, most of our teaching staff will be those teachers who will be transferring from the other District 204 middle schools. My goal is to hire a staff of highly qualified teachers who are exceptionally dedicated to providing well-rounded, challenging, and engaging educational programming for our middle school students.
Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF & E)
In the last update, I mentioned that I had been working with Greg Fischer on preparing the orders for the FF & E that will be necessary to implement our middle school curriculum. I am happy to say that within the past couple of weeks, we have become very close to being finished with this project. The orders we needed to put together were, for the most part, in the departments of Family & Consumer Science, Library, Music, Science, Art, PE/Athletics, and Applied Technology. Early in February, we will be looking at new signs for the outside of the school building.

A very big thank you goes out to the entire Fischer Middle School PTSA Nominating Committee for the formation of a fully representative slate for your consideration of candidates for the first Fischer Middle School PTSA Executive Board. School Colors & Mascot
All of the votes are in!!!!!!!!!!!!! In December and January, I met with next year's Fischer Middle School students at Steck, Georgetown, McCarty, Granger, & Still so they could cast their votes for our school colors and mascot. I must say that meeting with the students was truly a delight. Their enthusiasm for being the first students of Fischer is remarkable, and their willingness to help serve as leaders in the new school was inspiring to me. Thank you for having such great kids!
So, after a careful tally of all of the votes, the winning colors and mascot are...
School Colors = Dark Red & Gold
Mascot = Fischer Falcons
Sincerely,
Jennifer Nonnemacher
