Yesterday was the first (annual) Day of Jazz at Waubonsie. Beginning at 8:30, jazz students from high school and 4 middle schools (Still, Granger, Hill, and Scullen) participated in a day devoted to jazz.
Four guest artists performed for the students and held master classes. As well, Don Devaney, department chair at Metea, worked with the groups during the day to introduce Metea students to him.
There was a concert at the end of the day. It was amazing. So many middle school students had signed up, they had to create two bands, a Green band and a Gold band. The guest artists performed with the high school bands. Great music.
As usual, our district shows why we have two schools and soon to be three with outstanding music programs.

You are absolutely right! The various jazz bands were extremely good, I had to remind myself that I was in a school auditorium. My daughter was one of the middle-schoolers, she was so motivated that she has already committed to all the summer programs they announced.
