Darlene Senger on her quick and compassionate action in response to what is currently an intolerable lack of leadership on an extremely sensitive issue involving middle school students in District 204. Incredibly, three months after a student was the victim of a violent sexual assault, his two accused attackers remain in the same school building. The victim's family decided to go public with its appeal only after seeking help, in confidence, from school officials, to no avail. The district administration and now the school board have refused to take action to remove the two alleged attackers from their son's school and send them to an alternative learning environment. The "best" the school board could offer was to review the situation in two weeks. Now, thankfully, Rep. Senger has come up with a blueprint that can easily be adopted by the District 204 school board, since it appears unwilling and unable to act on its own. Kudos to Rep. Senger for looking at the big picture and for continuing to be an advocate for children. Diane DiVall Naperville
