This phase of the project is expected to continue through June, said Jeff Noblitt, the school's director of marketing. And it will likely be followed by the pouring of concrete. The new 130,000-square-foot campus is being constructed along the Fox River, between Downer Place and Galena Boulevard. When the $50 million campus opens in the fall of 2011, it is expected to provide students with more opportunity and greater accessibility to obtaining an education close to home. The downtown campus will offer classes in accounting, business administration, certified nurse assistant, computer information systems, criminal justice, early childhood education, human services, industrial technology and management. In addition, adult education courses and English as a Second Language will be available, along with a number of community education courses and youth programs, and work force development and training. The downtown campus also will feature a bookstore, cafeteria, child-care center with playground, library, learning enhancement and adult education centers, multipurpose meeting rooms and a conference room with a catering kitchen.
