Dear Friend,
This month, families throughout our communities are receiving their property tax notices. What many folks don't understand is that there are property tax relief programs available through the state including the General Homestead Exemption, the Senior Citizens Homestead Exemption and the Senior Citizens Assessment Freeze, just to name a few. Additionally, for those who feel their property has been unfairly assessed, there is an appeal process. For information about the appeal process or a list of exemptions, call your local township assessor or visit their website.
If you are located in Naperville Township, contact your assessor Warren Dixon, Jr. at (630) 355-2444 or visit www.napervilletownship.com and click on the assessor link. There is plenty of great information about the assessment process, and interactive tools to walk you through it. For those who live in Wheatland Township, your township assessor is Kelli Lord. She can be contacted at (630) 851-9740 or you can visit her website at www.wheatlandtownship.com and click on assessor. The deadline to appeal your assessment is September 21 if you live in Wheatland Township, and October 9, if you live in Naperville Township.
As your state representative, I am committed to ensuring that residents are informed about the state services available to them. In an effort to make myself as accessible as possible, I launched Traveling Office Hours in Aurora. Beginning September 25, a member of my staff or I will host Traveling Office Hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the fourth Friday of every month at Aurora Fire Station #8, 3770 McCoy Drive in the lobby or in the conference room. Beginning October 12, a member of my staff or I will host Traveling Office Hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second Monday of every month at the Aurora City Hall, 44 East Downer Place. Please come in and stop by!
Another fun way to stay in touch with my constituents is through my Facebook page. You can find me by searching sengerstaterep@gmail.com. As always, don't hesitate to call my district office at (630) 219-3090 or stop by to see me at my district office, 125 Water Street in downtown Naperville.
Sincerely,
Darlene Senger
