The board approved it 5-2, with Mark Grosso and Leslie Juby voting against it. The vote extends Mutchler's contract through June 30, 2014, at an annual salary of $213,709, which includes a $20,088 contribution to the state Teachers Retirement System and the Teachers' Health Insurance Security Fund. The salary is the same as last year's contract. The board reserves the right to change the salary during the contract. However, he will receive more sick days, and that's one of the reasons Grosso voted against it, he said. He also voted against it because he doesn't think the superintendent should have a longer contract than the teachers, who have a three-year contract. Mutchler was hired in 2006 on a three-year contract; his contract was extended in 2008 to run through June 30, 2013.
