I didn't see anything in the news about this, but there was a gas main break by Eola & Diehl yesterday. Below is info from two local aldermen.
My husband went by the intersection yesterday at lunchtime and saw that the northbound traffic had been diverted to one of the southbound lanes and there were fire trucks present and the smell of gas. Shortly after 4pm I saw that they had moved traffic back to a single northbound lane and had both southbound lanes open.
It will be nice when all this major construction is done in the area!

(this one was this morning)
I just received an e-mail informing me that Plote (contractor for the Tollway), struck a 6" gas line on Diehl Road near Eola.
The e-mail also indicated that Nicor's Public Affairs Liaison called and stated that tomorrow morning they will be purging the transmission line near the corner of Eola and Diehl for approximately half an hour. The purging will create a noise similar to the one created earlier this month. Nicor has already notified the APD and the AFD.
Please let me know if you have any questions,

(this one was yesterday)
Northbound Eola Road between Diehl and Molitor Roads will continue to have only a single lane open due to an earlier gas main rupture around the Prairie Path til about 9:00 tonight. Nicor has been on scene since this morning. Both southbound lanes are open. Expect rush hour traffic to be heavy in the area.
