I have a possible solution to throw out there.
If whatever is coming down the pike tomorrow doesn't pan out, and the plans for a 3rd HS by Aug. 09 now seem unlikely, we still have 2 HS's and 6 MS's that are overcrowded. At the time of the 06 referendum, we were told ( or should I say "promised") that if it didn't pass, boundaries would have to be changed anyway. One solution to alleviate the overcrowding NOW would be for the district to re-do boundaries for next fall until a site/deal can be arranged. When the school is built, new boundaries would once again have to be done, but at least some overcrowding issues could be handled in the interim.
Also, this suggestion would be to just announce the boundary changes with no input from the public. This is what a lot of school districts do anyway, sometimes on shorter notice. On an interim basis, would most be happy with this? I know it's not ideal, but this whole situation isn't ideal either.
Going one step further....assuming we get a piece of land somewhere, anywhere...if boundaries once again have to be redone, my suggestion would be to announce them AFTER the land has been closed upon. Just my .02 to throw out there.
Any other thoughts for a short-term fix other than portable classrooms and split shifts?

I would rather not shift kids from an overcrowded NV to make WV even more overcrowded if it can be avoided. This seems to make an unhappy situation for both current WV and those moved from NV.
So, is there something that can be done to fit the additional students at NV? Is there any way to temporarily use more space at Frontier or have portables at NV? I know both are terrible solutions but it also would be to redistribute kids to WV.
The good news is - we really have no say in this whatsoever from what I've seen this year so it doesn't really matter how we think it could or should be done.

I am concerned. The worst overcrowding is in our MSs. It seems something has to be done about that in 2009. That is far more critical than the HSs. Wonder if the suggestion that was thrown out before happens. The gold campus at WV is closed to make the MS and, well everyone gets very cozy in the high schools.
