The American Red Cross reports that there are more than 800,000 people affected by the earthquakes in Indonesia, 2.5 million people affected in the Philippines by Typhoon Ketsana, and countless suffering in American Samoa by the earthquakes and floods. The Red Cross is now moving into recovery efforts in these places and needs financial help as the expenses now outweigh their donations. The Student Council and the PTSA will be collecting spare change to send to the Red Cross.
